At Velvet & Vine, individual therapy is an act of reclaiming. We hold space for LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent people to explore identity, heal from harm, and reconnect with their own sense of worth. This is not clinical distance or checkbox care. It is a relationship—rooted in trust, consent, and deep listening.
Whether you are navigating the aftermath of trauma, the tension of coming out, or the quiet ache of disconnection, you deserve therapy that honors the whole of who you are.
This page offers an in-depth look at how individual therapy works, who it’s for, and how our queer liberatory framework informs every step.
Individual therapy is a one-on-one process of care. You meet with a therapist in a confidential space to explore what’s present in your life—grief, anxiety, identity, relationships, or trauma. At Velvet & Vine, therapy isn’t about “fixing” you. It’s about curiosity, care, and co-creating a space where all parts of you are welcome.
We begin by building safety. From there, we can explore patterns, emotions, and memories without judgment. We help you identify coping strategies, reconnect with your body, and cultivate inner resources.
Learn more about our therapists and the different types of therapies they use, such as Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), and Feminist Therapy, on their pages.
We do not believe your suffering needs to be “severe enough” to deserve support. If something is causing distress, we take it seriously.

Trauma doesn’t have to be a single event. Many of our clients live with the effects of chronic stress, systemic oppression, emotional neglect, or developmental trauma. These often show up as:
We use evidence-based trauma modalities like somatic therapy, parts work, and nervous system regulation strategies to support healing at the pace your body needs.
