Careers at Velvet & Vine are built on the belief that therapy is not just a service. Therapy is a way of living aligned with liberation, justice, and care. Our team holds space for queer and trans joy, for neurodivergent brilliance, and for trauma-informed practice that honors both tenderness and strength.

We are also committed to evidence-based, measurement-informed care. They are not rigid checklists, but living tools that help us track progress, reduce harm, and ensure clients are receiving the best care possible. Data and research walk hand-in-hand with intuition, embodiment, and lived experience.

If you are a clinician seeking not only a role but a community — a place where your full self belongs — you are welcome here. Whether you are beginning your training, working toward licensure, or fully licensed and ready to deepen your practice, Velvet & Vine offers a home for your skills, your vision, and your values.

Our Values in the Workplace

Velvet & Vine is more than a practice. It is a philosophy.

🌿 Liberation over assimilation: Therapists are not asked to “tone down” their identities. Your full self is not only welcome, but needed.

🌿 Collective care: Supervision and team structures reflect mutual support.

🌿 Sustainability: Our workloads, pay structures, and expectations are designed to reduce burnout and create long-term thriving.

🌿 Evidence and intuition together: We are committed to evidence-based, measurement-informed care while honoring lived experience, embodiment, and community wisdom.

🌿 Justice at the center: We hold space for queer, trans, BIPOC, neurodivergent, and disabled clinicians with intention and care.

We believe the work of healing is also the work of building the world we need. We strongly encourage you to read more about our philosophy and our values.

Clinical Internships

We welcome graduate-level interns in counseling programs.

Internship at Velvet & Vine is not about logging hours for its own sake. It is about finding a place where your curiosity is honored, your questions are taken seriously, and your identities are celebrated.

🌿 Supervision & Mentorship: Weekly individual and group supervision with affirming licensed clinicians.

🌿 Community of Practice: You are not left on the margins. You are invited into team consultation and shared learning.

🌿 Frameworks: Training rooted in queer liberation, trauma-informed care, neurodivergent affirmation, and evidence-based, measurement-informed practice.

🌿 Professional Development: Interns receive training and certification in complex trauma, trauma integration, and polyvagal theory to expand clinical skills.

🌿 Workload Expectations: Carry a caseload sufficient to have at least the number of kept sessions per week required by your school’s program

🌿 Professional Responsibilities: See the Professional Marketing, Client Care & Communication, and Care Coordination responsibilities of Provisionally & Fully Licensed Clinicians below

🌿 Compensation & Support: While internships are unpaid, each intern is awarded a one-time $500 scholarship grant to support their learning journey.

Bring your curiosity, your courage, and your full self. We will meet you there.

See Our Hiring Process below and send your resume and unofficial transcripts to careers@velvetandvine.com.

Provisionally & Fully Licensed Clinicians

For those who have graduated and are working toward full LCPC licensure, Velvet & Vine offers a place to grow your practice with support and affirmation. We know that provisionally licensed clinicians are often caught in systems that undervalue them.

If you are fully licensed and seeking not just a workplace but a team dedicated to queer liberation, Velvet & Vine may be your next home. Here, you can bring your whole self and your clinical specializations, whether that is somatic work, queer couples therapy, trauma-focused modalities, or sex therapy. We celebrate both lived experience and clinical expertise, knowing that healing grows from both.

🌿 Belonging: Build a practice that reflects your gifts, while being held in community.

🌿 Sustainability: Caseloads designed to prevent burnout, not cause it.

🌿 Supervision & Collaboration: For provisionally licensed clinicians, regular individual and group supervision, with affirming licensed supervisors. For fully licensed clinicians, regular consultation and space to work together.

🌿 Support: Space to navigate the challenges of clinical work without masking or minimizing who you are.

🌿 Frameworks: A shared commitment to, and ongoing training and consultation in, queer liberation, trauma-informed care, neurodivergent affirmation, and evidence-based, measurement-informed practice.

🌿 Professional Development: Clinicians receive training and certification in complex trauma, trauma integration, polyvagal theory, and EMDR to expand clinical skills.

🌿 Workload Expectations: Clinicians carry a caseload of 28–30 weekly scheduled sessions, with an average of 22+ kept, late cancelled, or no-show sessions per week. Progress notes must be completed within 24 hours of each session, and SMART treatment plans updated at least every 90 days.

🌿 Professional Marketing: Develop and carry out a personal and organizational marketing plan centered on your clinical areas of interest and professional development in coordination and collaboration with the Clinical Director

🌿 Client Care & Communication: Discuss financial issues and insurance coverage with clients transparently and compassionately as part of the therapeutic and administrative process

🌿 Care Coordination: Collaborate with primary care providers, psychiatrists, and other community supports to ensure holistic and integrated care for clients

🌿 Transparency: Pay structure and benefits are named openly (more details below).

This is a place to deepen your clinical skills, to explore liberatory frameworks, and to prepare for licensure in a supportive community. You do not have to choose between your values and your livelihood.

See Our Hiring Process below and send your resume to careers@velvetandvine.com.

Pay Structure

We believe transparency is a form of care. Pay, benefits, and expectations are named openly, so there are no hidden rules or unspoken assumptions.

Compensation is a flat fee paid per session that is kept or billed as a late cancellation or no show. The flat fee is compensation for all clinical and administrative work and responsibilities.

Annual compensation range is $52,800 – $73,900. This range depends upon licensure status, years at the practice, years fully licensed, and the number of sessions kept or billed as a late cancellation or no show. Compensation range provided assumes an average of 22 kept, late cancelled, or no show sessions per week, and the range does not include compensation for paid leave and paid sick leave (see Benefits below).

Our Hiring Process

At Velvet & Vine, we believe that entering this field should not mean proving yourself through unnecessary hurdles. Many traditional hiring practices — long cover letters, elaborate application portals, video or audio clips, unpaid “working interviews” — create barriers, especially for queer, trans, neurodivergent, BIPOC, and disabled clinicians. Research has shown that these requirements not only discourage applicants but also increase bias and discrimination in hiring.

That is not the world we want to build.

Our process is simple, intentional, and transparent:

🌿 Resume Only: We only ask for your resume. No cover letter, no lengthy statements of intent, no video or audio required. Submit your resume to careers@velvetandvine.com.

🌿 Values-Based Conversation: If selected, you’ll be invited to a conversation with our leadership team focused on your goals, your values, and your hopes for the work.

🌿 Case Presentation: You will be invited to share a de-identified case that reflects your clinical style and thought process. This is not a test of perfection, but an opportunity to understand how you think about care, integrate feedback, and embody your therapeutic values.

🌿 Meeting with Admin Team: Finally, you will meet with members of our admin team to learn more about our systems, scheduling, and support structures. This step is designed to ensure that the day-to-day realities of practice at Velvet & Vine align with your needs and expectations.

We want you to spend your energy where it matters, showing up as yourself, sharing your clinical voice, and building connection. Each step is rooted in curiosity, not judgment, and is intended to ensure that joining our community is a mutual fit.
